A Framework for Sexual Integrity and Spiritual Wholeness

The Nepsis Model is a six-stage coaching framework for individuals who are tired of compulsive cycles around distorted desires. Rooted in Scripture, Christian theology, and ancient insights on human behavior, it cultivates nepsis (Greek for ‘watchfulness’ and ‘sober-mindedness’) to help people redeem awareness of themselves, others, and God, with the aim of a recovering God-honoring desire.

God-honoring desire is the capacity to remain honest about what we feel and want, without being ruled by it. It allows us to move freely toward what is biblically true and good. It is desire restored to its original purpose: to lead us to deeper joy and satisfaction in God, as we worship Him by living in the world as He intended us to.

This model is for you if you are:

  • Struggling with sexual addiction or compulsive sexual behavior and want help grounded in Christian faith

  • A pastor, counselor, coach, or ministry leader who wants to learn and use this framework to help others

Whether you're seeking personal transformation or equipping yourself to walk alongside others, the Nepsis Model provides a structured, honest, and grace-filled path forward.

What to Expect

Participants engage the six stages through guided coaching sessions, reflective exercises, and formative tools — learning to see themselves, their desires, and God more clearly. This is not a quick fix. It is a process of recovery, formation, and renewal that unfolds over time with honesty and courage.

The Six Stages

1. Redeeming the Senses Many people numbed by sexual compulsivity have lost connection with their own body, emotions, and experience. This stage gently rebuilds that awareness, creating honest distance from the pain that so often drives compulsive behavior and helping people to be more integrated with their senses. It lays the foundation for sobriety and mindful, present living.

2. Redeeming Reality Sexual compulsivity thrives in denial and self-deception. This stage invites participants to see life as it truly is by naming what is real, taking responsibility, and confronting truth in an environment of grace. It is the beginning of genuine accountability.

3. Redeeming Awareness Here participants develop emotional literacy and spiritual discernment by learning to identify patterns of avoidance, shame, and misdirected desire as they arise. Growing in awareness of what is happening internally is essential to lasting change.

4. Redeeming the Self-in-Christ Sexual compulsivity can devastate a person's sense of identity. This stage reclaims the truth that participants are beloved and redeemed in Christ. By integrating grace, repentance, and spiritual formation we restore a more whole and secure sense of self in Jesus.

5. Redeeming Self-Control This stage moves from awareness into action. It focuses on building the disciplines, virtues, and Spirit-led habits that strengthen the will in alignment with God’s. Participants learn to make congruent choices not through white-knuckled effort, but through practiced attentiveness and Spirit-led endurance.

6. Redeeming Agency In this stage, participants step into their identity as image-bearers who live intentionally and freely under God's authority, engaging relationships, purpose, and stewardship with integrity. This is where participants begin to re-engage and reintroduce responsibilities and opportunities that sexual bondage kept them from.
